We left Bangkok after breakfast and headed back to Singapore. We didn't see any protesters as we left but did see alot of army on the streets. Weird to be in a country in the midst of an uprising and not really see much of the action. Yesterday, our taxi cab driver got lost returning us to our hotel and we had some tense moments since neither of us could commuicate with the man. Luckily, he had a cell phone and was able to call our hotel and we got led home. Today, we got through the Bangkok airport without incident
We arrived at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore on time. Our new room had a different view than our last one, probably even better. It is nice to be back in a country where everyone speaks English and are so very polite.
I had joined an on-line community called cruisecritic.com a few months ago. We've been chatting online with other people who will be on our cruise about places to see and go. Twenty-five of us had arranged to meet tonight pre-cruise for drinks at Raffles Hotel for Singapore Slings. Raffles is where the Sling was created. Afterwords, about fifteen of us went to dinner at an Indian restaurant. It was nice to put faces with everyone and meet spouses.

Funny coincidence. My roommate and I were watching the Amazing Race the other day (you know, the TV show where teams race around the world) and they were in Singapore for that leg of the race. Well, one of the teams had to ride in that ferris wheel/viewing capsule thing and climb from one of the compartments to the other on the top. When we were watching, I remembered that I had recently seen it and then I realized that I had seen it in your pictures, so I showed my roommate and the two of us thought it was really cool.
But yeah, random story.
