Hi everyone! Jeff here.
First of all, thanks for following our journey. The comments and especially the e-mails are wonderful to read.
We are really having a terrific time.
We find we have settled into a routine that we both like a lot.
On days that we are in port we stay very busy visiting sites, meeting all sorts of people, shopping and as often as possible, enjoying the native cuisine.
Port days are meant to be exciting and we have embraced this attitude whole heartedly.
Sea days are the just the opposite. It’s not unusual for us to stay in our cabin till after 10am and later.
I usually head up to the breakfast buffet while Ron sleeps and I bring back some goodies and of course, his coffee. If I am feeling lazy, we just have the steward bring some juice, coffee and fresh baked goods.
Our mornings pass quickly as we catch up on world news. The High Def flatscreens in the cabin broadcast CNN 24 hours a day and depending on our location, we also get MSNBC and today we noticed NBC and ABC programs being broadcast including morning news shows.
We bundle laundry for the stewards to take, we found that much easier than doing it ourselves.
We check our journey records to make sure we have emailed our next guide to confirm our arrivals, etc.
We head to one of the restaurants, usually the pool grill or lunch buffet, to grab something to eat by 12:30 and catch up on the ships gossip with some fellow travelers, we compare notes on shore excursions and usually make some dinner plans.
We have been very lucky on the trip so far in that we have met many interesting people from all over the world and from so many different states.
My guess is that on Voyages 2 and 3 we won’t be as lucky since the length of those trips are just 14 days each, not enough time to really make friends.
But no worry we always seem to find playmates.
In the afternoon, we both find places to read our books, actually our kindles, but it sounds strange to say we read our kindles. The kindles are great. I can’t believe we have only had them for less than a year. They really make reading a pleasure without the pain of packing an entire suitcase with books.
If the ship is holding their trivia contests, I attend, if not we usually play Rummy-Cube or Dominos.
Then back to our cabin for a quick nap catch one of the many and endless movies they show round the clock and shower and dress for dinner.
We seem to have to work hard to have a meal by ourselves but we try to do that at least once every few days.
The food as we have said before is really good and we have found our favorites already. We spoke with the head chef and discovered that while the specialty restaurants won’t vary their menus much, they do prepare a special entre each night. You just need to know to ask for it.
The main dining room does offer different selections nightly, so we shouldn’t be bored food wise at all.
We usually say good night to our dinner companions in the dining room and do a short walk around the deck before heading down to our cabin for the night.
Depending on how much wine we have consumed we watch one of the DVDs we brought with us or we work on the BLOG before heading to bed.
Anyway, that’s pretty much our daily routine.
Sorry no pictures to post today. It’s another sea day and the ship hasn’t changed, that’s why I was so long winded.
Thanks again for you input your suggestions and comments.
