Ushuaia, Argentina

Imagine our surprise today when the captain said Argentina refused to grant our ship clearance to dock in Ushuaia.  It appears that since the British territory of Falkland Islands let us dock yesterday and Argentina disputes Britain’s ownership, Argentina said no ship that docks in Falkland Islands can dock in Argentina the next day.  There is another cruise ship following us that had stopped in the Falkland Islands with us and they were refused clearance to dock In Ushuaia as well.
We had a private tour paid for in Ushuaia.  Looks like we lost that money.  We had gone to sleep early last night to be ready for today’s port call and therefore missed most of the Oscars.  Was it a good show?
Anyway, the captain took a very leisurely speed through the Beagle Channel, so we got some incredible views of the glaciers in this area.  In fact, twice the captain brought the ship to a stop and rotated this huge floating hotel 360 degrees so that everyone got great views without having to run from side to side.  In fact, the entire morning, day and dusk we have passed the most incredible mountains and islands on both sides of the ship.  Beautiful!
We’ll be in Punta Arenas, Chile tomorrow.
Good night!
