After leaving the Sea of Okhotsk via the La Perouse Strait, we entered the Sea of Japan. On one side of the strait was the Russian island of Sakhalin and on the other side of the ship was the Japanese island of Hokkaido, home of Sapporo. Below is picture I took at dusk of a lighthouse just off the eastern-most point of Sakhalin. Not sure if you if you can see the lighthouse, but the when the sunlight hit the lighthouse while I was on deck, I ran for the camera but a cloud came by and wouldn’t move.
We sailed most of today along the Russian coast of Sikhote-Alin on our way to our next port of Vladivostok, Russia. It was nice to see a coastline for so much of the day after seeing so much sea. We were able to sit out on the promenade deck for a while for the first time as the temperature finally went over 50 degrees. We only have one more sea day after Vladivostok and then it is port day after port day in a row.
Good night!
Are you enjoying it though? How are your dinner companions? And how do you like the ship? Shame about the fist port of call but hopefully the others will be more interesting.
