Our sail in to Hong Kong harbor was awesome. We came in from the west and sailed the entire harbor which gave us incredible views of Kowloon and especially Hong Kong island and its Victoria Peak. We were saddened to leave our wonderful ship but excited to start our week-long land tour.
We checked in to our hotel and since it was so early, our room was not yet ready. We left our luggage with the bellman and headed out to explore Hong Kong. We found the metro and got ourselves from Kowloon side over to Hong Kong. We walked the streets and viewed its many tall buildings.
We made it by foot all the way over to the escalators that take you up the hills. In the morning, the escalators go down bringing residents to their offices and in the late morning, the change direction. We got one going up but about half way up the hill, a portion was under repair. I was trying to get Jeff to an antique street but it was just too steep on foot so we headed back down the hill. We stopped for an incredible lunch at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel before we headed to the pier area to catch the hop-on hop-off bus. The bus took us all around Hong Kong island before returning us the pier where we caught the Star Ferry for a ride across the harbor to our hotel.
A terrific day! We were exhausted, so we decided to call it an early day and enjoy some room service for dinner.
