Nuremberg, Germany

We had to say goodbye to the Charles Hotel this morning as we head to Nuremberg.  The train station was just a block away and we had planned to wheel our suitcases over but there was a slight drizzle in the air.  The bellman loaded our luggage into a cab and off we went.  The trip was over in seconds but we were dry.  The cab driver was a little grumpy but oh well.

After validating our 4-day German Rail Pass, we headed to our train for the 1 hour trip.  We had reservations in the first class car but we could have saved the 9 euro uptick for the reservation as the car was mostly empty.  Unlike the train we were on to Berlin last year, this train had no area to store our luggage.  So everything went up in the overhead or was perched alongside us in the aisle.

Our Nuremberg hotel, Le Meridien Grand, was directly across the street from the train station.  We left our luggage with the bellman since our room was not yet ready and headed off to the Nuremberg Trials Museum.

Absolutely fascinating!!!  The exhibition is located above the historical Courtroom 600 and documents the Nuremberg Trial of Major War Criminals. An incredible audioguide leads you through the events leading up to the trials, on the parties involved, on the course of the trial, the legal prosecution of Nazi criminals after 1946 and finally the follow-up trials.  It gives a very factual account so that you can form your own "judgement" on the way Nazi crimes were dealt with.  Courtroom 600 was closed to the public today but the exhibition has windows looking down on the room.

Thick glass from the exhibit give the photo a glare

We flagged down a cab to head to old town to walk the pedestrian streets.

Ran into some wildlife while picking up some fruit........

Stopped into a church.......

This guy is how our feet feel.

The city is worth stopping in to see, especially the Trials Museum.  I'd say, spend no more than a day. The pedestrian area is your typical European shopping street although there are plenty of historical sites along the way to make it interesting

Goodnight.
