Our room came with a complimentary breakfast in the hotel's sun-filled restaurant. They had a buffet with all kinds of fresh fruits, juices, breads, etc. In addition, you could get made-to-order eggs and pancakes. Everything we tried was superb. This hotel's staff is really one of the nicest we've ever encountered. They make it hard for us to want to venture out.
But we did. We grabbed a cab out to Schloss Nympehenburg. 24 euros later, we reached the Schloss. Our guidebook described it as one of Europe's most beautiful palaces and the summer residence of the Bavarian ruler Max Emanuel. After our visit, I'd say, see everything else there is to see in Munich before visiting the Schloss. The gardens are quite plain-looking and the exterior of the Schloss is not especially stunning.

We had expected to spend a few hours at the Schloss but there really was not that much to keep our interest. So after 30 minutes, we headed back into old town.
Our next stop was the Residenz Museum. Wow!! You absolutely must experience this place. Formally a royal palace, it shows how the family lived and entertained back in the day. Visually breathtaking and the audioguide is one of the best we ever listened to. The treasury has quite a collection of artifacts.

It is in the high 90's today with a lot of humidity. The museum does not have air conditioning so we were suffering. We decided to cut our visit short and head out to Marienplatz (Munich's main shopping plaza) for some retail therapy and food. The area is filled with shops and mall-type stor and lots and lots of tourists.
Stopped in to see the Frauenkirche, one of southern Germany's largest Gothic structures. It was partially destroyed in the war. Incredible stained glass windows and the impressive tomb of Emperor Ludwig IV of Bavaria.
Jeff found the most incredible delicacy emporium. Wines, cheeses, pastries, fruits etc. They had a restaurant upstairs where we sat for a few hours trying out their offerings. Then Jeff went downstairs to shop and ship while I wandered over to the Apple Store for their free wifi.

We headed back to our hotel to watch some videos we had brought with us and to plan our day for tomorrow in Nuremburg.
