May 12 - 15, 2011 - Alex's Graduation from University of Missouri

We flew to Columbia, Missouri on Thursday May 12 to attend our nephew Alex's graduation from the University of Missouri.  He received his undergraduate degree from the School of Journalism with honors.  Our plane landed in Kansas City and we rented a car for the two hour drive east to Columbia.  Beth had arranged hotel rooms at the Courtyard Marriott near the campus.   A huge storm ensued on our drive making for a nervous time but we arrived safe.  Since everyone else was still in route to the hotel, we had dinner at Beningans attached to the hotel and then went to bed.

The following day, Alex gave all of us a tour of his beautiful campus and then took us all out to lunch at a local pub.

In the early evening, we attended the School of Journalism's graduation held at the university's basketball stadium. We all cheered when Alex received his diploma. Alex held a dinner at a local restaurant where many of his friends joined us for a great time.

On Saturday, Beth, Stewart, Randi, Jeff and I drove to the Churchill National Museum which was about twenty minutes away from Columbia.  Churchill had made a speech here and a small museum dedicated to the event was created to house a substantial amount of Churchill memorabilia.  The church above the museum originally stood in London.

On Sunday, we all headed home.  Stacy, Beth and Randi headed to St. Louis for their flights to Las Vegas, Orange County and Washington D.C., respectively.  Jeff and I headed to Kansas City for our flight to Las Vegas.  Alex and Stewart drove Alex's car back to Orange County.
