Wedding in Yosemite - Day 3

The original plan for today was to hook up with Leslie and Ellie and spend the day catching up.  Due to some unforseen wedding guest issues to involved to go in detail here, Leslie and Ellie decided to head home today.  They came by our lodge and spent an hour or so talking before they headed for Bakersfield, their home town.

Beth, Stewart, Jeff and I headed into the national park to explore the sights.  We first drove to Glacier Point.  In all my years going to Yosemite, I had only been there in the winter when the road to Glacier Point was closed.  What a view!  It truly is one of the wonders of the world seeing Half Dome, the valley below and the waterfalls.  Next we headed down to the valley floor and stopped at the Ahwanhee Lodge to look back up at Glacier Point.  Then it was on to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.  We hiked into the woods to see the Grizzly Giant, estimated to be 1,800 years old.  One of it's branches is seven feet in diameter!

It was wonderful spending time with Jeff's sister and brother in-law, something we had not been able to do for quite a few years.  Tomorrow, we all head for home.

I'm not hiking any further!!
